SUPPORTING BURMESE AND THAI STUDENTS
PURSUE A BETTER LIFE

The ATJ Foundation is excited to announce our sponsorship of the Ban Nai Soi Community Learning Center (BNSCLC) initially founded in the spring of 2005. The BNSCLC provides a secondary education, practical job related skills, and community development skills to secondary school-aged Burmese migrants and ethnic Thai minorities. This project supports the rural poor living in the Mae Hong Son Province area of Thailand near the Thai-Burma border.

PROVIDING
BASIC NEEDS

The purpose of the project and our support is to ensure that basic needs like medicine, food, and a sense of belonging are met. This gives these students a solid foundation. The students can then focus on continued education, life skills, and specific trades that will empower them and their communities. By helping them, we make sure that their underserved group will be represented better in the future. This is effective altruism.

You help us. We help them.
They help others.

AN AVENUE
FOR GREATER
OPPORTUNITIES

Our goal is to help motivated young people achieve their dream of making a difference, by giving them the opportunity to get the skills and education that is otherwise difficult for them to get on their own.

OUR most recent
graduates

  • 5 are working for community development organizations in Thailand or Myanmar (Burma)
  • 3 are working as teachers in migrant camps
  • 5 are studying at universities in Myanmar
  • 2 are working in healthcare

Without the chance to attend the BNSCLC program, these futures would not have been possible.

FOR OUR
TRAVELERS

The project is very close to the town of Mae Hong Son, which is easy to travel to if you are already spending time in Chiang Mai as part of your itinerary. If in the area and interested, we can organize the following activities so you can immerse yourself in this uplifting project.

  • An introduction to the project by the BNSCLC team.
  • Teach English to the students.
  • Enjoy a local Karenni lunch.
  • A cooking class (Karenni food).
  • Have pictures taken in traditional Karenni clothing.
  • Learn how to make mud bricks.
  • Learn about agriculture and work in the vegetable garden with the students.
  • Traditional Karenni music and dance performance.

Please join us by making a contribution to the ATJ Foundation in support of this effort. Collectively, we can make an impact.
